About The Artist

My name is Coby Komaro and I am a Finnish artist originating from Thailand. I am a self-taught classical painter most dominantly working with oils, but my work expands to various mediums such as Graphite, ink, acrylics and experimental surfaces varying from canvases, wood slices and pieces of wood. This website focuses on my journey as an artist and offers an opportunity for other artists or anyone aspiring to be a part of my journey and in turn, start their own.

Throughout my teenage years, i was desperately looking for an artistic way to express myself and my profound sense of loneliness which i express by encasing my subjects in dramatic lights and shadows since I found myself deeply moved by classical/baroque and renaissance paintings and artists especially, Caravaggio. I am fixated on understanding my world around me, my own inner world and love to project my sensitive perceptions onto canvas using dramatic chiaroscuro  technique combined with a colour palette involving raw natural shades and tones. My passion for my work is the loudest when painting portraits of animals, people and nature scenes that seem almost fantastical.
